OF COURSE YOU CAN.. THE ONLY THING YOU HAVE TO DO IS TO MOUNT YOUR CD-ROM 
IN SOME FILE... ALMOST ALWAYS CALLED CDROM... AND IF YOU HAVE A CD WRITER 
YOU HAVE TO MOUNT IT MANUALLY IN ANOTHER FILE... THAT YOU MUST CREATE.
MKDIR filename
then
/mount /dev/cd-writer /filename
then you have to put those settings in your fstab inside your /etc 
directory to make it automatic.

Can you access the CDRom in linux? If that does not work, then playing
music won't work either.
