tried that already.  whats worrying me is that fdisk (msdos) is saying that
theres 503meg.  when the drive is 2.6gig.
i've looked at some HD tools and they all report the correct info:

Cyls: 5086
H: 16
S: 63

which should equal 2.6 gig. hmm...

please help! before i launch this HD out of my window :)
