You've probably overwritten the drive parameter block on your hard drive.

You'll need a disk utility which will fix it... such as OnTrack Disk
Manager.

The BIOS reads the DPB at boot to grab configuration information from the
new "Biosless" drives...

Subject: [newbie] fdisk, disk druid, windoze ... HELP !!!

Hi all,

heres the scenario:

i wanted to quickly erase linux (a temporary measure you see). So i erased
some of the partitions using ms-dos fdisk. now theres one slight problem...
i cannot see the whole HD in any O/S. In both windoze and linux it says
theres 503meg free.. when its a 2.6gig HD.

I've tried a lowlevel format but it still only allows 503meg ...

somewhere i've done something *very* wrong and cannot fix this.

can somebody please help me ASAP.

TIA,

Gerald.
