If you are a newbie, get linux for dummies, It gave me a nice introduction to Linux, but you will probably know most of the stuff in there if you have used linux before, but I recommend you check it out. Another good spot for linux information is http://www.fetchnews.com , they have all kinds of linux news nicely indexed.
