|Subject: [newbie] Printer sharing
|
|
|Greets,
|
|I've got a small 3 box network running Mandrake 7.02 & 7.1 at
|home. Box #1 is a
|gateway for box's #2 & 3. Box's #2 & 3 have access to the
|internet with ipmasq.
|
|Box #1 - Lnx01 (192.168.100.1) (7.02)
|Box #2 - Lnx02 (192.168.100.2) (7.1)
|Box #3 - Lnx03 (192.168.100.3) (7.1)
|
|I have an HP 890c set up on Lnx01 as a local printer. Through
|DrakConf on box
|2&3 I am attempting to set up a remote printer as follows
|
|Name of queue: lp
|Spool directory: /var/spool/lpd/lp
|Printer Connection: lpd
|Remote hostname: 192.168.100.1
|Remote queue lp
|

Eh, set the name of each of the hosts in the /etc/hosts file...

Things are a little easier this way...

Then make sure that the hosts all appear in /etc/hosts.lpd and that you've
allowed them access in /etc/hosts.allow.

|Select my printer, print a test page and I get a message back:
|
|lnx02.xxx.net waiting for queue to be enabled on 192.168.100.1
|lpd: lp: Host name for your address (192.168.100.2) unknown
|

Yes see above.

|I know this printer works from lnx01 but cann't figure out why this doesn't
|work from lnx02
|

Finally restart all the printer daemons...
