[newbie] Install bug 7.1

Tried to install 7.1 but didn't get passed "initializing CDrom" before the
deadly "Transsocket...." message appeared. 
(Am using SiS 6326 card).  And yet, Mandrake 6 worked well on my machine. 
Tried the "Linux text" entry but got lost.

Somewhere I read there is a bug in the graphic install mode on this version
and that there is a patch or something to get around it. 
Could someone direct me to where this patch resides.
