I don't no whether this might help but when I had problems with my mouse
(not as bad as yours) I read somewhere to disable gpm the text/console
mouse support.  You can do this by start DrakConf from the desktop icon
select Startup Services from the options available and then run down the
list shown and change the checkbox button to be unpressed/unselected. 
There are apparently noted problems between gpm and a ps/2 mouse.  Not
wishing to insult but do you know whether you have a ps/2 or a serial or
usb mouse?
