another thing u can do in Mandrak 7.1 is when u are first installing
it, u will be asked if u want to go someplace and get  security
programs, answer yes, put in the infor for your modem and let
it dial, when the programs come up just cancel. i had the same
problem and did know how to tell netscape or konquer to
look for the connection, but this does it. then u dont have
to configure anything, especially if u dont know how. also
i would recommend drive optimizations. your drive will
be so fast it will almost jump out of your computer.
