Tom,

I used the dhcp-client-3.0bl1pl12-4mdk.i586.rpm and it worked just fine. I
had read the DHCP how-to and the writer said he had sometimes had problems
with pump so he used the dhcp-client instead. So therefore I did also.

If you are using v7.1 this package is located on your Instalation Disk 1 in
the /Mandrake/RPMS directory.

(rpm -i /mnt/cdrom/Mandrake/RPMS/dchp-client-3.0b1pl12-4mdk.i586.rpm)

Hope this helps

Subject: [newbie] Can't Configure eth0

I am unable to configure my nic in order to connect to the internet via DSL
modem. I installed the pump package, and on startup one of the lines says
something like "Configuring eth0 with pump .... operation failed."

Using linuxconf, I set the interface to use DHCP, and the kernal module to
tulip, but still am unable to "up" the eth0 interface. (I am using a netgear
310tx card, which is supposed to be supported.) Any suggestions on how to
configure the interface would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Tom RuBane
