OK, I took the easy route out, although I didn't know that it would be the 
easy route. I just got 7.2 in the mail from Cheapbytes, and when I installed 
it, it totally did all the configuring for me. I was slightly bummed, as I 
did want to figure it out for myself, but I really needed to get Linux back 
online, so its for the best.

Thanks to everyone who helped me with my attempts to get it going with 7.1, 
and to everyone who haven't gotten 7.2 yet and can't get their nic 
configured, GET 7.2 NOW! :-)
