[newbie] SMP support in 7.2 ?

hello, i'm new to linux,and about to build a dual cpu machine.Can mandrake 7.2 currently see and use 2 processors by default?.I was very surprised when i read that smp is not enabled in some distros (corel linux).I couldn't find any info at Mandrake's site. If not,is there an "easy" workaround? I don't think i can venture into recompiling the kernel at this point,so i'm looking for a distro that supports dual processors withoutmy intervention,   thanks in advance,   Cem
