Dennis,
  I haven't tried setting up my new cable connection in Linux, nor have I
encountered that problem in Windows.  You might check under the DHCP to make sure
that you have told the router you want it to provide 100 IP addresses (it has a
setting for how many "hosts" will be connected). For instance, since I have three
PC's that will be connected, I set it to 3, but I went with consecutive numbering
192.168.1.2, 3, 4. By going from 100 to 200 (this is just a guess), but it might
think there are 100 hosts in between (and by default it is set for only 50). So,
you might try either going 100 and 101 or raising the number of hosts.
  Of course, this is just a guess, but I think it might work...
