howdy, i'm trying to set up powerchute for linux to run with an APC back-UPS 500 so that it will shut down my system if the power goes out. it is attached on com1 / ttyS0 it is working under windows just fine the powerchute for linux installed good except that the software requires total control of the port that it is on, and it seems that there may be something else using that port which would explain why i can not communicate with the UPS. so my question is -- how do i go about finding out what is using ttyS0? if someone can at least point me to the command or program that would do this i can probably start to puzzle it out. no need for long detailed instructions -- yet -- let me mess it up first, then i'll be back. =) thank you much Adrian Smith 'de telepone dude Telecom Dept. x 7042 [EMAIL PROTECTED]
