_______________________________ I just wanted to post somthing that I thought was really nice about linux mandrake......... After using linux mandrake for a short while I conviced my friend that he should try it....... he agreed......we set it up and it wasn't but a day and he brought back his computer to me to re-install mandrake for him because his kids started playing with it and messed somthing up............(still not sure it was the kids! :)...... So I spent an hour or so and re-installed Linux Mandrake 7.2 all over again.........but this time a made a few adjustments......... 1. I set up a username KIDS along with a few others. 2. I had the KIDS username set up as the default user so mandrake boots automatically into it. 3. I installed all the games I could find on the install and the extension disk. 4. I deleted all the icons from the desktop and had the taskbar autohide. 5. Created icons to all the games on the 1 desktop I had showing. 6. Edited the K menu to show very few options (log off and a few others) The final result is that his 4 year old kid (or his wife...she likes the games) can turn on the computer and just play the games and not worry about messing anything up...(nothing else shows up on the screen but game icons).........and when he wants he can just logoff the KIDS username and login to his own desktop............ So basically his 4 year old can run a linux box......just by clicking the mouse..... :) This worked so well for them .... a couple days later...... I did the same thing to mine.(4 kids in my house) While we had it at work....... alot of employees stopped to take a look.......with the most asked questions.......what's this??? After answering many had no idea Linux could do this kind of stuff .. games and more! Might just convert a few more in the coming days! :) Maybe this isn't the place to post this.....(if not -- I apologize)... but it works so well for them/and us I thought I would pass it along in case any other newbies (like me) had inquisitive children that like games. WOW the power of Linux and KDE..........I'm just begininng to understand! :) -- Dave Registered LInux User #204085 ________________________________ M$ is not the answer. M$ is the question.
