Don't use -Uvh to install a kernel, only use -ivh You will need to use -Uvh only for the headers, if you install source and headers to go with your new kernel. Hopefully you're usin a -8mdk 2.4.13. Discussion on the cooker list noted problems with -3 thru -7mdk. > So I got the latest iptables rpm, and --test 'ed it, too, and it > says it needs the 2.4.13 kernel. Well, I upgraded iptables after installin 2.4.13 and didn't get any such dep errors (?). I used the cooker src.rpms, initscripts-6.27-22mdk.src.rpm and iptables-1.2.4-1mdk.src.rpm, but I did those upgrades to make supermount work flawlessly. Generally you need to keep initscripts and iptables close (in time, ie, latest) to your kernel version anyhow. BUT, I am using 'iptables <= 1.2.4-1' with 2.4.13-2mdk kernel. When I run 'iptables -L' I get the proper output. When the kernel and iptables are mis-matched, that command would display an error saying they are mis-matched. The only thing I can think of is that I built the iptables src.rpm against 2.4.13-2mdk kernel/sources/and headers. -- Tom Brinkman Galveston Bay, USA
