Let me guess, You are using MDK 8.1? I had this problem as well. My solution was to upgrade the kernel, I think it had something to do with the broken devfs. On the mandrakesecure website there's a document called "the black magic of kernel upgrading". This is a good document for tis purpose. Gerard
