Addendum to my last post.  adsl-* came as a result (I think) of
installing one of these:

ppp-2.4.1-3mdk
rp-pppoe-gui-3.3-2mdk
rp-pppoe-3.3-2mdk

Probably the last, but if you are running DSL, you should probably have
them all installed.  They are on the distro CDs.
