[newbie] Configuring sound card in Mandrake 8.1

Hello,     I am running LMD8.1 and cannot get the sound card to work properly.  Is there a way to adjust settings like there is in Win98 (volume control, etc.)?  Also, how do I configure it if its not configured properly?   Thanks   Travis Crook
