I think the most obvious point is that it's a matter of 
personal preference.

I loved the F4, it fit in my hand like no other camera on earth.
I used many of the features to save my bacon once or twice, 
obviously no one needs them all, but to sell a camera widely 
you have to provide for different audiences.

Then it got old and slow and I was forced to use an N90
for a long while, and I have to report it's too small for my hand, 
and it doesn't have the weight to balance naturally with an 80-200 f2.8 lens.

When the F5 came out most of my prayers were answered, but mostly
because I've got big hands (or long fingers at least) and use heavy lenses.

btw, the N70 interface is slow and complicated, 
unless it's the first camera you learn to use...
