Hi, just to let you know that in the latest issue of Chasseur d'Images (December 98, 309), there is an AF test, comparing the F90x, the F5, the EOS 1n and 3. The lenses used are the 300mm f/2.8 and f/4 (AF-S and AF for Nikon and USM-L for Canon). Even though one might think Nikon bodies would be handicaped by a slower f/4 lens, the ranking is as follows: Nikon F5 first, Nikon F90x and Canon EOS 3 second ex-aequo, and Canon EOS1n last. The ranking is based on 1) the number of sharp images obtained on a continuously moving target, and 2) the closest sharp image obtained during that tracking (Nikon bodies are especially good on the latter). Interesting to note is that the F70 performs also quite well against the EOS 50 and even 5 (A2). Of course, this ranking does not take in account the wider sensor area generally found on Canon bodies, the silence of USM versus conventional AF, etc... Nicolas.
