i've been watching the list for awhile and have seen several posts regarding the
F5 and
why it does the stuff it does. one of the main reasons i shoot nikon is for the
options.
i can use any nikon lens, and i have focal lengths from 15 to 1700. i will probably
never
use the 1700, but if i ever need it, it's there. i'm sure some people don't see a
reason
to have the leader out, but it's an option. have the camera rewind the film with the
leader out, and when you take it ot of the camera if you want the leader in, just roll
it
the rest of the way in.
as for the AF-ON button. i run the auto focus with my thumb and make my pictures
with
my index finger. it's taken awhile for my thumb to get used to all it's new duties,
but
once adjusted it's a wonderful setup.
further, i am not a big fan of having the focus points go red when selected. i've
found, when using a friends 1n, that my eye goes straight to the sensor rather than
focusing on the image in the viewfinder. i'm not sure if the red indicators can be
turned
off or not, but i would certainly want that option.

just my .02,
    Eric
