i played in the store with the new 80-200 on a F100. the F100 ergonomically feels like an EOS, which is good :-) the quality built is excellent. the AF is silent and fast as expected, but it didn't seem significantly faster or more silent than the 80-200N on the F100. the main improvements are the ability to use a AF TC, and to manually focus without need for the switch. there are several focus lock buttons which are cleverly placed on the barrel between the focus and zooming ring. i really disliked the added bulk (and weight) of the lens. it's only really slightly longer, wider and heavier, but it seems a lot in the hands. the hood has a more positive lock and a rectangular shape (another C-inspired thing imo) which is good, but it is also quite bulky, and when used on the lens is very obstrusive. i notice that the C version of the lens is actually comparable in size to the 80-200N AF, although it is a 70-210. a bit disappointing.
