The advantages of lenses other than the 80-200 f/2.8: lower cost lighter weight smaller size perhaps filter commonality with other lenses you own If you can afford the money and can handle the weight and size, the 80-200 AF or (even more money and a little more weight and size) the AF,S cannot be beat.
