Sorry to disappoint you, but I doubt that the introduction of
the 28-70mm/f2.8 AF-S will bring down the price for the 35-70/2.8.

There is little doubt that the new AF-S is going to be a great lens.
However, unfortunately it looks like it'll also be very expensive,
around the mid $1000 range at least initially. We are talking about
over twice as much as the 35-70. Therefore, they are really for
different tiers of the market. A similar situation was the introduction
of the 500mm/f4 AF-I and subsequently AF-S. The price of the older
500mm/f4 P MF wasn't affected by the new lenses because the new
lenses are a lot more expensive (around twice) than the old version.
