Hi guys. If you are experiencing this problem, please check if your SC-17 is the new version. The old one laks the posi-lock hole which is needed to mount an SB-25,26,27,&28. The newer version has this thus eliminating the chances of dislodging the SB's foot from the hot shoe. The usual result from a partially disconnected SB foot/hot shoe is the camera's inability to accurately meter the light output. Hope this helps.
