If the aperture has no effect at all the AI indexing
pin may be set to the up (non-AI) position, so the
camera thinks the lens is wide open. The AI indexing
ring on the camera could also be sticking. Turn the
lens aperture ring back and forth and see if the pin
on the camera follows.
