The 8008/8008s Nikon body is one of the classic Nikon bodies.

Think F100 today; the 8008/s was the F100 of its time. The 8008 came out
before the F4 and pioneered the AF sensor that was later used in the F4.
The 8008 comes fully featured, with DOF preview, interchangeable viewing
screens, and on-the-body multiple exposure. It is comfortable to hold
and to use.

After the F4 came out, Nikon brought out the 8008s which adds a spot
meter, faster AF, and focus tracking to the already strong array of
features.

The 8008s was eventually replaced by the N90 and N90s. But it remains a
solid, durable, well featured Nikon body. You should be able to find
clean used 8008s bodies for a reasonable price, and one should serve you
well.

I know a number of pro Nikon shooters who swear by thsi body for
convenience, durability, and feathres.

By the way, you can get the MR 3 terminal release button for the 8008s
and use conventional screw-in cable releases with this camera.
