Hi Greg
I have one, I use it often. It is very sharp, I like the slightly larger
image scale than the standard 50. It will do just about everything they
advertise. It is not just a night time lens but a great multi purpose
tool.
It did not perform as I hoped however. I bought the lens for
astrophotography. Even though it is aspheric it still has considerable
coma at the edges when wide open. (turning stars to seagulls) This is
probably only noticeable to someone shooting stars or possibly distant
night cityscapes. The coma disappears when stopped down one or two stops
so I would call it about the sharpest lens at f/1.8 I have ever seen. I
paid the B&H price and I think it is worth the price you mentioned. I
wouldn't sell mine though, I still use it for astro shots just stopped
down a bit. Carefully inspect the rear element, it is easily scratched.

Recently I came across a Nikkor 58mm F1.2 Noct in a local camera shop.
Itıs in nearly new condition. As anyone who has knowledge of this lens
knows they are usually expensive. This one is no exception.
