This has been an interesting note that I have noticed when the IX-Nikkor

lenses was first introduced and I thought then that it was a printing
error. Now it seems like not, so my question is that: Isn't the F
mount
designed to be fully compatible thorough out the Nikon range since
1950's?
So what the change now?

Can anyone throw some light?

The lenses won't cover the 35mm format. They will cover the APS
formats. The fact that IX lenses use the F mount is the result of Nikon
wanting users to be able to use the F lenses on the Pronea camera.
