Your F5 has TWO shutter releases. One in the normal position, the other on
the right edge for when you hold the camera vertically. I'll bet that you're
triggering the vertical release as you try to remove the camera from the
quick release plate. You should notice that this second release has a
locking mechanism that you can turn to keep it from accidentally triggering.
