Hi NISTNet users,

I am testing an application by varying network characterstics such as delay and tcp packet loss. I want to make several measurements between client and server while modifying nistnet delays and losses.

I have installed NISTNet on a FEDORA machine (2.6.11-1.1369_FC4) and have it configured as a router between two SusE machines (both 2.6.16.13-4-smp i686) as follows
Suse pc1 fedora pc suse pc 2
[client] --- [nistnet] - [server]
i selected experimental as the distribution

I measured UDP packet loss using nuttcp and the loss coresponds to whatever i set in the emulator.
example if i set 10% i get 10% loss.

I want to confirm that the tcp packet loss is as specified by the emulator.
(I have tried the Sting measurement tool that specifically measures tcp packet loss but have failed to get it to work
with Sting http://www.cs.ucsd.edu/~savage/sting/
i get the following error
[EMAIL PROTECTED] sting]# ./sting-linux server
ERROR: couldn't block kernel TCP for 10.0.2.2:80
0 packets received by filter
0 packets dropped by kernel)

So I have the following questions
Has anyone measured the tcp packet loss and confirmed it with nistnet?
Can you suggest any tcp packet loss measuremnent tools?

Thanks for any assistance

Ahmed
