Howard,
thanks for the other WM demos at the linux fest
at least on Natty, when you click on a user, the window selection
allows for one to select from "ubuntu classic" which allows for
the gnome 2.x version that allows for easy selection of the virtual desktops.
I have not tried this on On Oneiric Ocelot 11.10 or 12.04 Precise
Pangolin LTS.
I assume that you have at least "gnome-shell" installed, if you do
then it should be available as well for "ubuntu classic".
Cheers
Justin
I haven't looked "that" hard yet. What I read along the way indicated
that Ubuntu classic [was | is] going away as of Precise 12.04. I'm
taking no chances and no prisoners. Would not object to being proven
incorrect.
Let's face it, "we" don't like to change what "we" deem to be working
and for me, Gnome 2 was working just fine. Andrew's comments about the
transition to tablet and touchscreen may very well be true but all the
same, I like to be able to segregate my work on desktops, even on a
touchscreen - maybe even more so!
