The shares are in the registry, the LUN's have to be on the same drive
letter, for the server service to bring them online. 

Its just easier to migrate data with robocopy and export the shares with
regedit and import them on new system.

Did the shares carry over too! In my tests when the LUNs are detached
from one hosts and re-attached to another hosts (even with the same
name), the shares goes completely out of whack. 

Please share your experience.
