Birded yesterday along Riis Park/Fort Tilden coast (Queens county) with Seth
Ausabel, Corey Finger and Bob Dieterich.

First bird of the day was the first winter KING EIDER that had initially been
found on Saturdays' Brooklyn CBC. The bird was just off a jetty toward the
eastern of Fort Tilden.

The bird was 1 or 2 jetties west of this on the CBC. A caveat though, a search
for the bird yesterday afternoon was not successful.

Some protracted scoping from Riis Park pulled out a couple of distant
RAZORBILLS (thanks to Seth).

Other highlights for day were 1500+ Black Scoters, 8-10 White-winged Scoters,
25-20 Red-throated Loon, 11 Purple Sandpipers on Breezy Point jetty and 15-20
Common Eider. A lot of seaducks went unidentified as they very far out on the
ocean.

Just before returning home I made a quick stop at the Veteran's Memorial
Fishing Pier (end of 69th Street in Bay Ridge, Brooklyn) and found the
recurring adult BLACK-HEADED GULL. There seems to be a partial m.o. for this
bird now. The 3x it has been seen this fall (all in the last 10 days), it was
roosting on the pier with RBGU in 20-30 mph NW winds.

See you afield,
