I spent the morning birding Floyd Bennett Field, Dead Horse Bay, Hendrix Creek and Coney Island with Heydi Lopes and Rob Jett.
Highlights included... Dead Horse Bay 8-10,000 Greater Scaup 10 Redhead 3 Common Goldeneye 1 Northern Gannet 275 Long-tailed Duck 1 Northern Harrier (adult male) Floyd Bennett Field 1 Snowy Owl (being flushed by photographers). 25 Horned Lark 8 Snow Bunting 8 Fox Sparrow (in view at once) Hendrix Creek 1 Canvasback (female) 3 Wilson's Snipe 1 Common Merganser (female) Coney Island 1 Goldeneye (female in creek) 3 Purple Sandpiper (37th St. Jetty) We just missed a reported Black-headed Gull and 3 Black Vultures at Coney Island Creek Park. All in all a fantastic day in the field.
