I did not see the Rufous this afternoon but some birders said that it was in 
the same entry area (81 Street) of the American Museum of Natural History 
(AMNH) at the "Rose Center" this morning. It was freezing and probably it was 
perching some place near by. 

The juvenile Red-Headed Woodpecker was in the same area that Tom Fiore has 
mentioned before (North-NW side of the Hallett Sanctuary in the park's 
southeast corner). It was flying low and feeding on the ground. The best spot 
to view the bird is at the end of the path that goes from the pond in direction 
 to the ice skating rink (parallel to Center Drive).

I took some pictures of the Red-Headed Woodpecker and (as you can see) it has a 
few reddish spots but the head is still brown. This is a link to a picture of
