To put a finer point on it, the real goal is to give the copyright holders credit for 
their ownership.  Authorship is secondary, IMO, though it can be included, even as the 
SRD listing shows.

Regarding the PI is/is not OGC debate, I weigh in on the "is not" side.

To mine metaphorical understanding, each product is like a stretch of pavement on 
which water puddles are OGC and oil drops are PI.  If released under the OGL and d20 
system license, at least 5% must be water.  The oil can be splashed on as liberally as 
desired on areas where there is, or even is not water, but at no time does that mean 
the oil becomes water.
