We're so close to being done with SRDs for the material that we put up under the gentleman's agreement that I'll be damned if it doesn't see an official SRD release.

Actually, here's a thought: who says WotC is going to update the D20SRD to reflect the changes in the new edition of D&D? They haven't included the mechanical innovations that went into Star Wars or WoT (AFAIK). And if, as they claim, the new will be compatible with the old, is it any more pressing for them to release their changes to D20 than it is for any other company? Would it be so bad if, once the current generation of the D20SRD was finished, they focused on releasing new material, not revising existing? (i.e., something like the systems in ELH or MotP might be released, but not revised versions of existing classes) I guess what i'm asking is, since the D20SRD is effectively the "reference document" for D20, wouldn't keeping it static be almost as valuable as keeping it current?

Hmmm... i don't think i'm being very clear here. This isn't a conspiracy ranting ("WotC got everyone hooked on v3 so that they could change to v3.5 and not release the changes and screw everyone else over!"), just some musings: maybe having D&D only mostly-compatible with the D20SRD isn't any worse than having SpyCraft only mostly-compatible with the D20SRD. There, *that's* what i was trying to say.

[and that last point stands, even if they have said outright that the D20SRD will be updated, or that an "addendum" will be released, or whatever.]
