That would be 20, not 2. So it would seem that that CRX is the most correct .. even the error message uses the current NUMERIC DIGITS. Arguable (although I don't think ANSI defined how error messages are constructed -- but maybe it did?). Anyway, hats off to the late Brian Marks!
