OBIEE Developer Job Responsibilities Job Responsibilities 1. Researches, designs, develops and/or modifies new software or existing enterprise-wide systems and/or applications software. Resolves highly complex hardware/software compatibility and interface design considerations. 2. Develops and applies advanced methods, theories, and research techniques in the investigation and solution of complex and advanced software applications and problems. 3. Advanced knowledge of data warehouse development and maintenance lifecycle and methodology. 4. Develop technical design BI specifications using OBIEE development standards & best practices. 5. Conducts investigations and tests of considerable complexity. 6. Understand business requirements and experience in developing custom BI solutions in OBIEE. 7. Factors emerging technologies and product supportability into design and implementation. 8. Advises hardware engineers on machine characteristics that affect software systems, such as storage capacity, processing speed, and input/output requirements. 9. Prepares reports on analyses, findings, and project progress, and presents results to management and/or customer personnel. 10. Serves as a customer interface to resolve problems and ensure requirements are met on a timely basis. 11. Provide recommendations on business process changes based on other Asset Management implementations and Oracle functionality. 12. Serves as a technical team or task leader providing guidance and work leadership to less-experienced software developers. 13. Provides input to staff involved in writing and updating technical documentation such as user manuals, system documentation, and training materials. 14. Maintains current knowledge of relevant technology as assigned. Education/Equivalent Training Required 1. Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a related technical discipline, or the equivalent combination of education, technical training, or work/military experience. 2. Master’s Degree preferred. Experience (state type and preferred # of years) *10-15 years* of related software development experience. Unique/Additional Requirements 1. Strong skills in solutions design a. Design, build, deploy and support end to end BI solutions. b. Determine whether measure calculations and processing should be done in ODI/ETL or metadata. c. Design and develop BI Metadata Repository and identify areas of optimization. d. Determine requirements for aggregate tables. e. Design logical and multi-dimensional data models. f. Design and support OBIEE security model. 2. Ability to provide recommendations on configuration and setup parameters based on other Asset Management implementations. a. OBIEE metadata/logical data models. b. OBIEE user interface objects (e.g. reports, analytics, ad-hoc queries, dashboards, etc.). c. Dimensional data modeling. d. Assist in identifying and documenting gaps in the Oracle product set. 3. Understanding documentation of RICEWF components and ensure document compliance. a. Understanding of Oracle's Documents including BR030, RD050, MD050, BR100, etc. b. Ensure documents meet needs by assisting in evaluation of accuracy and completeness. 4. Manage Production Support, Problem and Change. a. Provide day to day production support of data warehouse BI environment. b. Independently *Troubleshoot* performance issues of OBIEE environment and evaluate existing logic for tuning possibilities. c. Maintain BI Server metadata/ services (physical layer, business layer, custom reports and subject areas of RPD). d. Provide production support for existing BI systems and work on new BI development initiatives simultaneously. e. Creating users & web groups, setting up Authentication, creating Session Variables and Initialization Blocks. 5. Perform Development and Testing Functions. a. Develop custom ETL code in Oracle PL/SQL and database views. b. Develop Dashboards/Reports that are Dynamic & Interactive with intuitive drilldowns and drill-across. c. Strong PL/SQL and SQL development and performance tuning skills. d. Create test cases, document test results and troubleshoot issues. 6. Solid oral, written communication and problem solving skills.
