Ludovic, we discussed this off-list. pcsc-lite has many disadvantages, I offered you my help and time in order to work together to achieve single common framework for smartcard readers in open source domain, this is achievable by combining the good features of pcsc-lite and the good features of openct into a single solution. As as wrote you, it cannot be done without your cooperation as there is no place for more competition. I believe that users and developers will benefit from a new combined framework, while resources of volunteers be invested in single vector. I am still waiting for your decision.
