So it can be used as a compute node.  There are

to get its kernel.

Sorry to sound cheap and not supportive toward Sun,
but $500 for a 80G SATA disk  from Sun ?

I'm not sure where you're getting the $500 from?
The difference between the small & medium choices also include a bump in the processor from a 146 to a 148 model Opteron.

I'm not saying this justifies the price difference, but it's not fair to say it's $500 just for the disk upgrade.
