I am obviously, +1 on this.

I am happy to answer any questions, within reason, on my role in this effort.

I cannot think of any good reason why all of our currently separate communities
can't find ways to work together.  As gatekeeper, making that happen is
my goal.   How our various projects contribute to a central repository is yet to
be determined and it is clear there is a lot to discuss in this new project.

As I see it, we will continue to have different groups of end users we will serve.
The Nevada/OpenSolaris users will be looking to OpenSolaris.org for software
and we can provide that in a way we will all determine.  How we mix the CCD,
Blastwave, Sunfreeware, or other current projects will come - hopefully soon.

It has been important that the CCD consolidation source be put in a form that
is usable and consistent with the ON and SFW ones.  The CCD project really
depended on the SFW on being done first since a portion of the CCD
software was moved to SFW or removed.  Some other programs have been
added.  Lots of upgrade work needs to be done, but as Keith has said, that will
come from users who want to do that.  I may do some of that from time to time, but
I surely hope community members will immediately take over their favorite packages.

Basically, like the ON and SFW, the CCD code needed to be put into a reasonable
"initial state".  We are very close to that state I think.

On another level however, there is still a large community of Solaris users who wiill not be using
Solalris 11/OpenSolaris for years, if ever.  Those older versions of Solaris
will still need the support of our current projects and I don't see that this "CCD Project"
will help those people.   Our individual projects should continue to serve those users.

Anyway, I plan to offer my full support to get a repository that will grow rapidly
with contributions from all sides.  I think we all have that goal in mind with, clearly, a wide
variety of ideas on how to get there.  Should be very interesting.
