Please elaborate. It's not clear if you are referring to ON's set of closed binaries, or closed makefiles and build-scripts. (BTW, the SFW consolidation was released a few weeks ago, so all those makefiles, etc. are now open...)

it may be that
e.g. Schillix is forced to supply different libs than Sun does.
