You are right, our company bought this copy before the name was changed to
Altium Designer. Sorry about the confusion. I was able to get some success
replacing the problem files with files from a successful x32 install. But now
the installer gives me an error message that there was a problem installing the
parallel port driver and closes. I know that Protel2004/Altium Designer's
parallel port driver will not work on XP x64, is there any way to get the
installer to skip the parallel port driver install?

OK, it had genuinely slipped my mind that Altium Designer 2004 had
originally been designated as Protel 2004. But as Darren has now alerted
everyone that that was the case, it is now clear that Joshua had actually
been referring to Protel 2004-cum-Altium Designer 2004, as opposed to the
preceding DXP version.

And I would still recommend that Joshua install SP4 for Altium Designer 2004
if at all possible. Installing that SP won't fix all of that version's
shortcomings, but it still fixes some of them, so it is still worthwhile
doing so.

Another tip for Joshua: Can you "acquire" a "valid" copy of the SP2 version
of the AdvPCB.rul file, such as from a PC which is running a 32 bit version
of Windows? If you are able to copy such a file to the PC on which you are
running Windows XP x64 (and to the appropriate location), maybe you could
subsequently install SP4 (or if necessary, SP3, then SP4) without any
further "drama".

Regards,
Geoff Harland.
