I've run OTRS 2.x and now 3.x on Windows 2003 as well as 2008 for a couple of years with relatively few problems, certainly nothing like what Jan experienced. Our biggest problem has been growth of the database in MSSQL 2005.

I'm installing OTRS on 2 systems today, Windows Server 2008 R2 and SLES11. We'll see how it goes. I'm familiar with linux, however my colleagues are not. They would prefer it to be on Windows in case I leave the company or break my leg ;) I'm going to suggest them that if worst comes to worst, they can always migrate it to Windows.. Anybody else had any issues with OTRS on Windows (or Linux)? -- Thanks a lot Robert On Sat, Jan 29, 2011 at 11:40 AM, Jan Rüssel <janrues...@gmail.com<mailto:janrues...@gmail.com>> wrote: Hi Robert, We have started running OTRS on Windows Server 2008 R2. We are currently investing in how to migrate to Linux because we have unstable performance, more need for windows updates (and necessary repoobts) and the system log for OTRS which is only enabled for linux. Also we want to save the costs to purchase the Windows license. So if you are familiar with Linux I would recommend to go for Linux. Also the large amount of installations seems to be on Linux which is the impression I got when browsing many forum entries in order to solve issues and questions. I am also new to OTRS and therefore am looking for further inputs by the community. Apart from obvious differences that come from OS, are there any benefits for the application whan it's run on Linux (eg. is it more stable, better tested etc)? I'm just about to choose the platform so any info would be useful.
