You can substitute hubs for the switches in the above diagram.
A 5-port 10/100 switch costs about $45 these days.

Thanks for very clear diagram, one last question, when i connect ethernet cable from
regular port (1st fl)to uplink port (2nd fl), do I need to use cross over cable or
just regular(patch) cat-5 one?
