Using an 8500, with 8.6, I just today - indeed, right now -experience a
strange problem:

My Apple Menu items have mostly vanished. Only one folder that I put in
there (Internet Access), with aliases to my Internet apps, shows up.
Everything else, save the "About this computer" item, has vanished.

I check the Apple Menu folder in the System folder, and all my usual stuff
is there.

I've been using Macs since 1987. I've never seen this before.

Has this happened to anyone else? Is there an easy cure? Or must I
reinstall the system?

(I'll probably restart in a while, but still: what is this?)
