Brent,

If you require a Server Side solution to populate form fields with data
you can check out the activePDF Toolkit product. www.activePDF.com

Subject: [PDFdev] Calling a COM object

PDFdev is a service provided by PDFzone.com | http://www.pdfzone.com
_____________________________________________________________

All,

Yesterday, the project I am working on changed for the better. I am
required to access Mainframe data and use it to populate a PDF form.

The solution I proposed required screen scraping to pull the needed data
from the mainframe screens and writing it to a delimited text file where
it could then be imported into the form.

The IT department has a product in place that they use to expose backend
data to PC based applications. This eliminates the need to do the screen
scrapes.

Instead, I now need to call a COM object and supply a client ID that
will be used in a query. The COM object will reply with a string
containing the field values that I need to populate the form.

I have the Adobe 6.0 SDK, but don't know quite where to start to find
out how to call this COM object and then to have it "listen" and accept
the string and use it to fill in the PDF fields.

If anyone can point me in the right direction, I'd appreciate it.

Brent
