What Cotty is saying is that since the *istD doesn't use film, it cannot
have TTL-OTF metering.  Maybe OTS (off the sensor) metering

"Will not" - true; Pentax has chosen not to support OTF-TTL flash. But
technically, there is no reason why it cannot be done.  It is left out
mainly for cost saving reasons; just like the crippled mount. FYI, the
Fujifilm S2Pro supports OTF or Off-The-CCD TTL flash as well as
pre-flash TTL flash; while ironically, none of the Nikon DSLRs does.
